Who Founded Braun?

Braun is a German-based company that today produces and sells products such as electric shavers, toasters, epilators, or electric toothbrushes. Founded by Max Braun in 1921 in Frankfurt, Germany, the company was owned by Gillette between 1984 and 2005. It changed hands in 2005 and passed to Procter & Gamble. Today, it is still a subsidiary of this company.

Mechanical engineer Max Braun, who founded the company in 1921 by producing radios in a small engineering workshop, expanded the company within 2 years and started producing parts related to radio internal components. Combining the first radio and record player unit in 1932, Braun became Germany’s most powerful radio company. Until the 1950s, it continued to produce radios and audio recorders, as well as technological devices like film projectors. Finally, in the 1950s, they produced the razor we know today for the first time. The company continued this way until 1967, during which time a portion of it was acquired by the famous company Gillette.

Braun, whose company suffered great damage and loss during World War II, recreated the company from scratch with 150 workers. In the 1950s, they started producing their world-renowned products, electric shavers.

Braun, whose name we mostly mention in machines used in homes, continues its bright stability today. Braun, whose name we still hear in epilation, shavers, coffee machines, and household appliances, continues production under Procter & Gamble, which has 120,000 employees and is among the world’s 500 largest companies.
