Who Founded ASELSAN?

Actually, we don’t really need to explain much, do we? ASELSAN… When every TC (Republic of Turkey) citizen hears this word, they know what it is and what it does. It gives confidence to Turkey with the technologies it produces and the projects it realizes. It strikes fear into the enemy. In fact, ASELSAN’s motto and slogan as a company is “Technology that inspires confidence.” It is the unique organization that even managed to produce domestic mobile phones for a period.

Who is the founder of ASELSAN?

Established to meet the technological needs of the Republic of Turkey in the military and intelligence fields, and to keep the army strong by developing weapons and defense systems within the scope of the most up-to-date needs of the defense industry; ASELSAN, due to the nature of the work it does, is not a private enterprise, but a state enterprise.

Accordingly, if we are to give the establishment information, ASELSAN is a state-enterprise joint-stock company established in 1975 by the Republic of Turkey. Its expansion is “Military Electronic Industries.” Officially, ASELSAN is an establishment of the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation.

The owner of ASELSAN

ASELSAN, which has nearly 6,000 employees and operates in the fields of electronics, defense, and software, is not yet a privatized company. While 84.58% of its shares belong to the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation (TSKGV), a 15.3% portion has been offered to the public and is traded on Borsa Istanbul. Fields of activity of ASELSAN

The product range of ASELSAN, which has an income of nearly 3 billion TL, is as follows under general headings:

Due to these R&D studies continuing in extremely different departments, ASELSAN has been divided into many sub-departments. These are as follows:

• Communications and Information Technologies Vice Presidency (HBT)
• Defense System Technologies Vice Presidency (SST)
• Radar Electronic Warfare Intelligence Vice Presidency (REHIS)
• Microelectronics, Guidance and Electro-Optics Vice Presidency (MGEO)
• Radios and PMR products produced for civilians are manufactured by Aselsan.NET, which was established as a subsidiary in 2006.

Where is ASELSAN?

Today, ASELSAN continues its activities in 4 facilities in Ankara, namely Macunköy, Akyurt, Gölbaşı, and Teknokent. The ASELSAN General Directorate is located in the facility in Macunköy.

Working for the Republic of Turkey, ASELSAN also has a wide customer network abroad. The most striking example of these is ASELSAN BAKU, which was established and became operational in Azerbaijan in 1998.
